Responsibilities:
Requirement Gathering: primary role is to extract, analyze, and document business needs from stakeholders across procurement, warehouse, and inventory. This involves using techniques like interviews, workshops, and document analysis to define what the business needs to achieve.
User Story Creation: translate gathered business requirements into clear, concise user stories, often following the "As a [User Role], I want [Goal], so that [Benefit]" format. Crucially, you define acceptance criteria for each story, outlining the conditions for its successful completion.
User Story Backlogs: actively participate in refining and grooming the product backlog. This involves collaborating with the tech team and Product Owner to ensure user stories are well-understood, appropriately detailed, estimated (e.g., in story points), and prioritized based on business value and dependencies.
Sprint Planning Assistance: support the development team during sprint planning by elaborating on user stories, clarifying acceptance criteria, and helping define the sprint's scope. You ensure the team has a clear understanding of the work committed for the upcoming sprint.
UAT and Test Case Assistance: contribute to the quality assurance process by assisting in or creating detailed UAT (User Acceptance Testing) test cases based on user story acceptance criteria. You help plan and facilitate UAT sessions with business users, ensuring real-world scenarios are covered.
Defect Management - Managing Unaccepted or Buggy Developed Cases: When issues arise during testing or UAT, you are responsible for meticulously logging defects, including steps to reproduce, expected vs. actual outcomes, and relevant details.
Reprioritization and Backlog: For unaccepted or buggy features, you work with the Product Owner and development team to assess their impact and priority. These items are then either directly fixed (hotfix) or re-entered into the product backlog, ensuring they are addressed in future sprints.
PMO (Project Management Office): While not explicitly detailed in your original description as a direct BA function, a BA's contribution to PMO activities typically involves providing accurate and timely information on project progress, risks, and changes related to requirements and scope. This might include participating in status meetings, providing input for project reports, and ensuring that changes to requirements are properly documented and communicated, aligning with PMO standards for project governance and reporting.
Works with cross-functional teams and various stakeholders, including analytics, design/user experience, engineering, and user enablement.
Works with user-focused departments to define self-service user experience, support, and monitoring for customers.
